Who this is for

Someone bundling cables behind a desk that will be moved, reconfigured or added to. Not for someone who needs the cables mechanically fixed to the desk itself; this solves bundling, not fastening, and adhesive-backed clips or a screw-mounted tray are a separate purchase.

What to check before you buy

These are attributes you can verify yourself on the listing or in the product photographs, without taking anyone's word for it.

Where it is likely to fail

A zip tie pulled tight is a permanent decision: to change one cable you cut the whole bundle and re-tie it, and over-tightened it crushes the jacket and deforms the conductors inside, which shows up as a flaky connection years later. Hook-and-loop avoids both, but the wrong length gaps instead of gripping, and cheap straps shed their hooks after a few cycles.

The honest caveat

This is half of what the guide asks for. It fixes the bundling, so moving the desk is a ten-minute job instead of an afternoon, but the load still has to be carried by screws rather than glue where the cables meet the desk or the sit-stand column. Buy a screw-mounted clip or tray for that part.

The reasoning behind these criteria is in the full guide: Cable management that survives moving your desk.
